Hernia Center

We take care of your well-being.

Most hernias occur when part of the intestine slips through a weak point in the abdominal wall, creating a visible or palpable bulge. Hernias can occur in the umbilical region, in the groin area or anywhere else where you have a surgical scar. Some hernias are congenital, while others develop slowly over the course of months or years. There are also hernias that appear suddenly. Hernias in the groin area are the most common hernias and are particularly common in men.

Quality-controlled hernia surgery

Every year, more than 350,000 operations are performed in Germany due to hernias (also known as soft tissue hernias). Despite all the progress made in the treatment of hernias, there is still a high number of repeat hernias and chronic pain after hernia surgery. Dr. Stechemesser has specialized in the treatment of hernias and has extensive experience in the treatment of all types of hernias. Due to his extensive experience and specialization, the rate of repeat hernias and chronic pain is very low, which can only be proven by constant quality control. Dr. Stechemesser takes part in the Herniamed quality assurance study. The practice bears the seal of the German Hernia Society - Quality Assured Hernia Surgery. Every patient is treated with the best possible surgical method according to the current state of knowledge.

Use of 3D technology in laparoscopy

With the use of 3D technology in laparoscopy, we currently have the most modern technology in the field of endoscopic surgery and use it in our daily routine for the treatment of hernias (soft tissue hernias). The outstanding full HD visualization in combination with the latest 3D technology leads to optimal hand-eye coordination. This helps the surgeon to maintain a high level of concentration. Targeting delicate structures, optimally positioning suture needles or precisely separating the finest tissue structures becomes child's play.
