The hand - we need it to gesticulate, to grasp, to feel (i.e. to "grasp"), to eat and for many other things in daily life. However, we often only realize how important this organ is for us in everyday life when our hand hurts or can no longer provide us with its services for other reasons. At the HANDZENTRUM KÖLN, two highly experienced hand specialists, Dr. v. Maydell, previously a senior physician at the well-known Malteser Hand Center in Bonn for many years, and Mr. Altmann, who previously managed the practice for 19 years, are available to you for these situations.
The range of services covers the entire field of hand surgery - whether it's just an examination or the treatment of injuries or illnesses to the hand, wrist and forearm, as well as toes and feet.

Operations
In our practice, which is located directly opposite the PAN Clinic at Zeppelinstrasse 2, we examine our patients, make a diagnosis and carry out all the necessary preparations for an operation.
Should an operation be necessary, we have an operating theater at our disposal in the practice - for larger operations and operations that should be performed on an inpatient basis, we have access to the PAN Clinic's state-of-the-art operating department and its qualified specialist staff.
Anesthesia procedure
Many procedures can be performed under local anesthesia. Among other things, we use the modern WALANT technique (Wide Awake Local Anesthesia No Tourniquet), which is comparatively comfortable and less stressful for the patient due to the elimination of the so-called tourniquet.
In cooperation with the anaesthesia department of the PAN Clinic, regional anaesthesia procedures (arm anaesthesia) and general anaesthesia can also be offered if required.
