We get to the bottom of your worries

Fortunately, hereditary or genetic diseases are rare. However, anyone who is aware of the existence of a predisposition in their family will want to clarify their own risk of disease and inheritance. In our human genetics consultation, we deal with the genetic causes of fertility disorders and the genetic risk assessment of fertility treatments - because an unfulfilled desire to have children can also result from a genetically unfavorable constellation. As part of our diagnostics, risks can be precisely determined and many fears allayed.

A joyful multi-generational family gathers outdoors, smiling and looking at a smartphone. The group includes grandparents, parents, and children. They share a moment of laughter and connection, surrounded by greenery, reflecting a warm and happy atmosphere.

Your genetic counseling – this is how it works

We analyze your personal medical history and that of your family and your partner. If necessary, we will examine you physically for disease-specific characteristics. If all the relevant information is available, we will discuss whether there is a genetic risk, which medical-genetic examinations make sense and what the consequences of a possible disease are - especially against the background of an existing or desired pregnancy. We are also available as partners to many medical specialties - in particular gynaecologists and andrologists.

Preimplantation genetic diagnosis – examination of the embryo created in vitro

Preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) gives couples the hope of giving birth to a healthy child - even if they are known to have pre-existing genetic conditions or the baby is expected to suffer serious health problems. With the license granted, the Competence Centre for Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis Cologne at the MVZ PAN Institute is one of the first centers in Germany to be able to examine artificially fertilized embryos using PGD.

The MVZ PAN Institute has currently been approved by the Bavarian State Ministry of Health and Care as a cooperating reproductive medicine center in the field of preimplantation genetic diagnosis. We work here with the Medical Genetic Center (MGZ) of Professor Dr. med. Dipl. chem. Elke Holinski-Feder in Munich. Professor Holinski-Feder's institute is approved as a PGD center.
